Disassembly

1. Remove the upper section of the pump.



2. Inspect the lower section of the pump and gears for dents, scratches or wear.



3. Remove the pump seal.





4. Inspect the top section of the pump for dents, scratches or wear.



5. Inspect the pump gears for dents, scratches or wear.

Assembly

NOTE: The smaller gear has notches on both sides.

NOTE: The smaller recess should face away from the torque converter seal.

NOTE: The larger notch with the beveled edge should face the torque converter.

Lubricate the gears and thrust washers with clean transmission fluid.



2. Using the special tool, install the pump seal.

• Lubricate the gears and thrust washers with transmission fluid.

3. Install the upper section of the pump.
