Disassembly

1. Remove the pressure plate and reverse clutch discs.

• 1. Remove the reverse clutch pressure plate retaining ring.
• 2. Remove the pressure plate and clutch discs.

2. Using the special tool, remove the reverse clutch snap ring and retainer.




3. Remove the reverse clutch return spring.



4. Remove the reverse clutch piston assembly.

CAUTION: If damage is found to the reverse clutch piston seals, install a new reverse clutch piston.

Inspect the seal installation hole, inner and outer seals.

Assembly

1. Before assembly, soak the internal spline clutch discs in clean automatic transmission fluid for 15 minutes.


2. Lubricate and install the reverse clutch piston assembly.



3. Install the reverse clutch return spring.



4. Using the special tool, install the retainer and the reverse clutch snap ring.



5. Install the reverse clutch pressure plate retaining ring. For more information, refer to the Specifications chapter in this section.

• 1. Install the reverse clutch discs and pressure plate.
• 2. Install the reverse clutch pressure plate retaining ring.
