
Compress the spring so that its ends are released. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that the spring is correctly placed in the screw hooks. Spontaneous release of the spring from the device can lead to serious consequences, including injury.
Unscrew the upper suspension mount nut.
Remove the top column mount.
Remove the spring and dust cover. Do not disassemble the column any further. The column parts are shown in Fig. 4.14.

Column assembly
Insert the column into the compressed spring (the spring is compressed using the MS-1516 device). Make sure that the ends of the spring are correctly positioned on the washers.
Install the remaining parts and tighten the nuts of the bolted connections.
Install the upper disc washer, maintaining its correct mounting position.
Tighten the top nut.
Carefully release the spring and remove the spring compressor.
