Disassembly
All cars
1. Remove the steering wheel.
- 1. Disconnect the speed control system plug connector (if equipped).
- 2. Unscrew the bolt.

2. Remove the spacer sleeve.

NOTE: Make sure that the clock spring cannot rotate. Secure it in the central position with suitable tape.
Remove the clock spring.
Using a thin-tipped screwdriver, release the two retaining clips.

4. Remove the two multifunction switches.
- 1. Press the locking elements.
- 2. Lift the switches up.

5. Remove the passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver. Remove the screw.

6. Remove the ignition switch. Release the clamps.

7. Remove the ignition switch cylinder.
- 1. Insert the ignition key and turn it to position 1.
- 2. Using a thin-tipped screwdriver, press down on the stopper.

8. Extend the steering column fully.
- 1. Release the locking lever.
- 2. Extend the steering column fully.

9.
NOTE: The two steering column sections should be marked before separating.
Mark the two sections of the steering column.

All cars
10. Remove the Allen bolt.

11. Separate the two sections of the steering column.

Vehicles with stability control
12. Remove the steering wheel rotation sensor clamp.
- 1. Remove the screws.
- 2. Using a thin-tipped screwdriver, press on the locking elements and remove the clamp.

13. Remove the screws securing the steering wheel rotation sensor.

14. Remove the steering wheel rotation sensor.

Assembly
Vehicles with stability control
1.
WARNING: Do not install a new steering wheel sensor if the retaining pin has been removed. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
WARNING: Before installing the steering wheel sensor, make sure the sensor rotor is in the correct position. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
Check the position of the steering wheel rotation sensor.

WARNING: Make sure that the tightening torque of the steering wheel rotation sensor mounting screws is not exceeded. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
Install the steering wheel rotation sensor.

3.
WARNING: Make sure that the tightening torque of the steering wheel rotation sensor clamp mounting screws is not exceeded. Failure to do so may result in personal injury.
Install the steering wheel rotation sensor clamp.
- 1. Install the screws.
- 2. Apply lubricant; for this purpose, consistent grease is used.

All cars

NOTE: Make sure the steering column shafts are aligned correctly.
Connect the two steering column sections.

WARNING: Make sure that the split bushings are in the bracket holes. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
WARNING: Make sure that the bolt tightening torque is not exceeded. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
Tighten the steering column bolt.
- 1. Check the position of the split bushings.
- 2. Tighten the steering column bolt.

6. Install the ignition switch cylinder.
- 1. Insert the lock cylinder.
- 2. Install the ignition switch lock.

7. Install the ignition switch.

8. Install the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) transceiver.

9.
WARNING: Before installation, ensure that the clock spring is centered. Failure to do so may result in injury.
Center the clock spring.
1. Turn the clock spring in the COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction until you feel resistance (approximately 2.5 turns from the center position).
2. Turn the clock spring CLOCKWISE 2.5 turns until the hand marked on the center of the clock spring aligns with the letter "V" at the 12 o'clock position on the outer cover of the clock spring. The clock spring is now centered.

10.
CAUTION: Make sure the spacer washer is installed correctly. Do not assemble if the spacer washer is missing.
Install the clock spring.
- Make sure both locking tabs are secured in the required position on the steering column.

11. Set the two multi-function switches.

12. Install the steering wheel.
- 1. Install the bolt.
- 2. Connect the speed control system plug connector (if equipped).
