Ignition Switch — Removal and Installation (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

2. Remove the lower section of the instrument panel.

• 1. Remove the screws.
• 2. Release the clamp.

3. Remove the upper steering column cover. Using a thin-tipped screwdriver, pry off the two clips (one on each side).



4. Remove the audio control switch (if equipped).

• 1.Using a thin-tipped screwdriver, release the locking element.
• 2. Disconnect the electrical connector.

5. Remove the lower steering column cover.

• 1. Release the steering column lock lever.
• 2. Remove the screws.
• Remove the ignition key.

6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

• Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
• Disconnect the electrical connector from the turn signal/headlamp switch and headlamp flasher.

7. Remove the ignition switch. Unfasten the clamps.

Installation

1. Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
