Removal


1. Disconnect the transmission range (TR) sensor connector and disconnect the selector lever cable.



2.
NOTE: Failure to hold the shift lever while releasing or tightening the manual shaft lever will result in torque being transmitted to the TR shifter and shift mechanism.


Remove the TR sensor (for clarity, the automatic transmission in the block with the drive axle is shown removed).
  • 1. Remove the manual control lever.
  • 2. Remove the bolts.



Installation


1.
NOTE: Failure to hold the shift lever while releasing or tightening the manual shaft lever will result in torque being transmitted to the TR shifter and shift mechanism.



NOTE: Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage.


Install the TR sensor (for clarity, the automatic transmission in the block with the drive axle is shown removed).



2. Using the special tool, align the TR sensor position and tighten the bolts.

CAUTION: Do not use air tools when working on this bolt. Hold the hand control lever while tightening the hand control lever bolt, failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the hand control lever shaft.


Install the manual control lever.



4.
CAUTION: Check that the control lever is in position "3" as well as in position "D".



Adjust the manual control lever to match the "D" position of the TR sensor.
  • 1. "1" Low 1st gear
  • 2. "2" Low 2nd gear
  • 3. "D" Motion Transfer
  • 4. "N" Neutral position
  • 5. "R" Reverse gear
  • 6. "P" Parking gear
  • In the "D" position, the marks on the manual control lever are aligned with the marks on the TR sensor.



5. Connect the gear selector lever cable and connect the TR sensor plug.
