Main control valves

Removal

1. Remove the transmission fluid case. For more information, refer to the Transmission Fluid Case chapter in this section.

2. Disconnect the transmission fluid temperature (TFT) sensor connector.



3. Remove the transmission fluid filter.

NOTE: The positions of the main control unit wiring harness connectors must be noted as they can only be connected in the same positions. The connector color letters are molded into the solenoid valve block.

Remove the ground wire bolt. Disconnect the plug connectors and remove the main control unit wiring harness.

• 1. SSC solenoid valve; Color N (neutral white).
• 2. SSE Solenoid Valve: Color G (Green)
• 3. SSD Solenoid Valve: Color L (Blue)
• 4. EPC Solenoid Valve: Color B (Black)
• 5. SSA solenoid valve: Color N (neutral (grayish))
• 6. SSB Solenoid Valve: Color B (Black)

NOTE: Mark the position of the two long bolts.

Remove the main control valve block and accumulators.

NOTE: Each accumulator has two springs. All four springs are different sizes.

NOTE: To facilitate assembly, mark the size and location of the accumulator springs.

Remove the accumulator pistons and springs.

Installation

1.

NOTE: Thin long springs are for neutral and range of motion ("D") accumulators.

Install the pistons and accumulator springs.

• 1. Accumulator 1 and 2.
• 2. Accumulator N and D.

CAUTION: Make sure the manual valve is located on the manual valve shift lever.

NOTE: Do not fully tighten the main control valve block bolts at this stage.

Install the main control valve block.



3. Tighten the main control valve block mounting bolts.

• Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

NOTE: It is necessary to mate the plug connectors in their original position as noted during disassembly. The color letters of the plug connectors are molded on the solenoid valve block.

Install the main control valve assembly wiring harness, connect the plug connectors and install the ground wire bolt.

• 1. SSC solenoid valve; Color N (neutral white).
• 2. SSE Solenoid Valve: Color G (Green)
• 3. SSD Solenoid Valve: Color L (Blue)
• 4. EPC Solenoid Valve: Color B (Black)
• 5. SSA solenoid valve: Color N (neutral (grayish))
• 6. SSB Solenoid Valve: Color B (Black)

5. Install the transmission fluid filter.




6. Connect the TFT sensor plug connector.



7. Install the transmission fluid pan. For more information, refer to the Transmission Fluid Pan chapter in this section.
