Removal

1. Loosen the nuts securing the upper support of the strut assembly with the spring by five turns.



2. Remove the left wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04.

3. Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle.

CAUTION: Support the axle shaft. The inner joint should not be deflected at an angle exceeding 18 degrees. The outer joint should not be deflected at an angle exceeding 45 degrees.

Using the special tool, disconnect the axle shaft from the transaxle and secure it to the side.

• Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
• Discard the snap ring as it is no longer needed.

5. Using the special tool, remove the axle shaft oil seal.

Installation

1. Using the special tool, install the axle shaft oil seal.

CAUTION: Support the axle shaft. The inner joint should not be deflected at an angle exceeding 18 degrees. The outer joint should not be deflected at an angle exceeding 45 degrees.

CAUTION: Do not damage the axle shaft oil seal.

CAUTION: Make sure the snap ring is installed correctly.

NOTE: Install a new snap ring.

Connect the axle shaft to the transaxle.



3. Connect the lower arm to the wheel knuckle.

• 1. Connect the ball joint of the suspension arm.
• 2. Install the bolt.

4. Install the left wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04.

5. Tighten the nuts securing the upper strut support assembly with the spring.



6. Check the transmission fluid level and add transmission fluid if necessary.
