The 7" rear axle has modified differential satellites and axle gears. The new satellites can be distinguished by the reinforcement on their outer side, and the new axle gears have shorter teeth, without reinforcement.
Old and new type gears can be interchanged, but only as a set. Old and new gears cannot be installed together.
