Tool for installing oil seal of protruding section of crankcase 307-028 (17-002)

Removal


1. Loosen the nuts securing the upper support of the suspension strut assembly with the spring by five turns.



2. Remove the right wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04.

3. Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle.



4. Remove the intermediate shaft intermediate bearing cover.


  • Discard the bearing cover and locknuts as they are no longer needed.

CAUTION: Support the axle shaft. The inner joint should not be deflected at an angle exceeding 18 degrees. The outer joint should not be deflected at an angle exceeding 45 degrees.


Disconnect the axle shaft from the transaxle and secure it to the side.
  • Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.



6. Using the special tool, remove the axle shaft oil seal.



Installation


1. Using the special tool, install the axle shaft oil seal.




2.
CAUTION: Support the axle shaft. The inner joint should not be deflected at an angle exceeding 18 degrees. The outer joint should not be deflected at an angle exceeding 45 degrees.


CAUTION: Do not damage the axle shaft oil seal.


NOTE: Install a new intermediate shaft bearing cap.


Connect the axle shaft to the transaxle.
  • Install the intermediate bearing cover and locknuts.



3. Connect the lower arm to the steering knuckle.
  • 1. Connect the ball joint of the suspension arm.
  • 2. Install the bolt.



4. Install the right wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04.


5. Tighten the nuts securing the upper strut support assembly with the spring.



6. Check the transmission fluid level and add transmission fluid if necessary.
