Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor (TSS) (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Remove the battery tray. For more information, refer to Section 414-01.

2. Remove the air filter housing.

• 1. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor connector.
• 2. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose.
• 3. Disconnect the air filter outlet hose.
• Remove the air filter housing from the rubber grommets.

NOTE: The resonator is inserted into the bracket.

Remove the air filter inlet hose together with the resonator.



4. Disconnect the turbine shaft speed sensor (TSS) connector



5. Remove the TSS sensor.

• Check the TSS sensor hole.
• Check the O-ring for cracks or cuts and install a new O-ring if necessary.

Installation

1.

NOTE: Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the O-ring before installing it.

NOTE: Apply thread sealant to the bolt.

Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
