1. Clean the outside of the torque converter.

2. Install the special tool on the torque converter hub.

WARNING: When using the press, always follow the safety instructions. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.


Install the torque converter together with the special tool in the arbor press.
  • Fasten the press. Apply sufficient press force to insert the tool into the torque converter.

CAUTION: Use only clean, dry air.


Using the special tool, apply air pressure.



5. While applying air pressure to the valve, inspect the converter hub, seams, and studs for leaks. To facilitate diagnosis, a soap solution can be applied around these areas. If there are any leaks, install a new torque converter.



6. Remove the air hose. Relieve pressure and then slowly release the press. Remove the torque converter. Remove the tool.
