A new torque converter should be installed if one or more of the following statements is true:
- Based on the development of diagnostic procedures, incorrect functioning of the torque converter was recorded.
- Damaged impeller hub or bushing.
- If there is a discoloration of the torque converter (due to overheating).
- When performing the following checks, it is determined that the characteristics of the torque converter are out of specification:
- Checking the axial clearance of the torque converter
- Checking for leaks in the torque converter
- If there is evidence of transaxle damage or transmission fluid contamination due to the following transaxle or torque converter problems:
- major metal defect
- malfunctions of multi-plate clutches or discs
- element wear that results in metal particle contamination
