Replacing the exhaust system, including the catalytic converter

            0

The following is a description of how to replace the exhaust system assembly, starting at the front of the vehicle. When purchasing replacement parts, be sure to purchase new bolts, self-locking nuts and rubber mounts.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Raise the vehicle and secure it on stands. During all work on the exhaust system, the vehicle must be securely fixed with supports and must not tip over even with sharp jerks of individual parts.

2. Disconnect electrical connector 1 (pic. 11.2) oxygen concentration sensor by checking the condition of the wiring harness. Often the insulation around both wires becomes brittle or the connections to the oxygen sensor become brittle. Damaged connectors cannot be repaired, so the oxygen sensor in the kit must be replaced.

3. Unscrew the fastening of the front part of the receiving exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold and carefully lower it.

4. Raise the exhaust system, remove it from the rubber supports and remove it from under the car.

5. Disconnect the pipes connecting the front and rear of the exhaust system.

6. On the ground next to the vehicle, assemble the exhaust system parts without securing them. Lubricate new gaskets and pipe connections with heat-resistant grease so that they subsequently separate freely.

7. Suspend system of release of the fulfilled gases on rubber support to the bottom of the car.

8. Screw the front of the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.

9. Rubber supports must evenly bear the gravity of the exhaust system.

10. All elements of the exhaust system must be at an equal distance from the body (at least 25 mm to the bottom of the body and heat shields). By turning or sliding in the longitudinal direction, install the pipes and mufflers at an equal distance from the body (pic. 11.3).

11. Attach the exhaust pipe securely to the front flange and secure with brackets using mounting grease.

12. Lower the car.

13. Perform a test drive, while the elements of the exhaust system should evenly heat up.

14. In conclusion, check the reliability of all fasteners and the tightness of the system.
