Attention! From January 1987 on the 1.8 dm3 engine, a smaller, newly designed ESC II hybrid unit was installed.

Removing the connector from the EEC IV

EEC II Block Carburetor Engines



1. Remove the negative cable from the battery.



2. Disconnect the vacuum pipe (arrow) from the block.


3. Press the locking bracket and remove the connector.

4. Unscrew the three screws and remove the ESC II block.

ESC II Block, Fuel Injection Engines



On DOHC and V6 2.4 and 2.9 inch3 engines, the unit is located on the passenger side and is accessible from below the glove compartment.

OHC and V6 engines 2.8 in.3



1. Remove the negative cable from the battery.

2. Remove the trim under the instrument panel on the passenger side.

3. Disconnect the unit and lower it to the floor of the passenger compartment.

4. Remove connector from block.

DOHC and V6 engines 2.4 and 2.9 dm3



5. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

6. Remove the unit from the installation hanger.

7. Unscrew the connector fixing screw and remove the connector.
