The use of an electronic digital ignition system eliminates the need for ignition timing adjustment. The control unit stores programs and setup data. The crankshaft speed, oxygen and coolant temperature sensors, the throttle position potentiometer and the air flow meter transmit engine status information to the control unit, which is used to calculate the ignition timing for the actual engine load of the Fiesta.
