Temporarily changing the ignition timing to correct the octane number of the fuel

If, due to necessity or carelessness, you fill the fuel tank with the wrong fuel (the recommended fuel for your Euro Super vehicle is 95 octane), no more than 2 km after refueling, detonation knocks will appear under the hood of your car. Stop the vehicle immediately to correct the ignition timing. The Fiesta has an octane number service connector located on the left side wall in the engine compartment for this purpose (pic. 9.7). Squeeze the clip and disconnect the connector. After this intervention, the engine power will decrease slightly, but this will not lead to any negative consequences. After the next refueling with the recommended fuel, do not forget to connect the service connector.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Spark plug won't turn out

If excessive force is required to remove the spark plug, do not remove it as the threads in the cylinder head may be damaged.

In this case, warm up the engine and try to remove the spark plug.

Warning.

A hot engine can burn your hands. Therefore, wait until the engine has cooled down. This advice also has a technical justification: cold plugs screwed into a hot cylinder head then sit as if welded. Apply a thin layer of soft pencil graphite or copper-based grease to the spark plug threads to make it easier to screw in and out of the spark plug. If engine oil is used, the spark plug will burn to the cylinder head and cannot be removed.
