Assembling a Pierburg carburetor (Scorpio 1)

1. The carburetor is assembled in the reverse order of removal, using new gaskets and seals.

2. When installing the bimetallic spring housing, align the marks.

3. To check the air damper opening, set the idle speed screw to the upper cam stage. Press the adjusting screw toward the diaphragm and measure the damper opening with a drill or measuring rod of nominal diameter. The gap should be 3 mm. If necessary, adjust using a 2 mm Allen key.

4. After installing the first chamber throttle damper, adjust its position in the bracket so that a 2 mm thick feeler gauge fits between the idle speed adjusting screw and the throttle control lever. The plunger of the damper should just touch the drive lever.

5. Adjust the idle speed and mixture quality, and, if necessary, the fast idle speed.
