Removal and installation a Pierburg carburetor (Scorpio 1)

1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.

2. Remove the air filter.

3. Disconnect the automatic air damper wire from the thermal switch.

3. Disconnect the automatic air damper wire from the thermal switch.


4. Disconnect the throttle bracket (indicated by the arrow) from the lever.

5. Remove the fuel supply hose to the carburetor. If there are clamps on the hoses, cut them off and install clamps that are tightened with a screw instead.

6. When the engine is hot, relieve the pressure in the engine cooling system by carefully unscrewing the cap on the expansion tank.

7. Remove the coolant supply hoses from the automatic air damper housing, lift them up and plug them with plugs (shown by the arrow).

8. Unscrew the three screws securing the carburetor to the intake manifold.



9. Remove the carburetor and cover the hole in the intake manifold with a clean rag.

10. The carburetor is installed in the reverse order of removal. After installation, adjust the idle speed and CO content.
