            0

To replace the front seal crankshaft, do the following.

1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.

2. Remove the timing belt (see «Replacing the timing belt»).

3. Remove the crankshaft sprocket.

4. Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal from the oil pump housing.

5. Lubricate the working edge of the new oil seal with engine oil, install the oil seal in the oil pump housing, orienting the working edge inside the engine, and press it in until it stops with a mandrel. As a mandrel, you can use a head from a tool kit of a suitable size or an old oil seal.

6. Install all removed parts and components of the gas distribution mechanism in the reverse order of removal.

7. Adjust the tension of the timing belt (see «Replacing the timing belt»).

To replace the rear seal crankshaft, do the following.

1. Remove the gearbox (see «Removal and installation of a transmission»).

2. Remove the clutch (see «Removal and installation of clutch»).

3. Remove the flywheel (see «Removal, installation and troubleshooting of the flywheel»).

4. Inspect the gland. If the tightness of the stuffing box is broken, an oil leak will be visible in its lower part.

5. Turn out six bolts of fastening of the holder of an epiploon to the block of cylinders …

6.... and remove the holder assembly with the stuffing box.

Note. The crankshaft rear oil seal and holder seal are glued to the holder. Therefore, if the stuffing box leaks, replace the entire assembly.

Note. Pay attention to the markings on the gland holder. Purchase a gland assembly with the same marking.

7. Lubricate the working lip of the new oil seal with engine oil, install the oil seal holder on the cylinder block, orienting the oil seal with the working lip inside the engine, and carefully fill the working lip onto the crankshaft journal.

8. Tighten the stuffing box holder bolts evenly and crosswise to the torque given in Appendix 1.
