Perform work on an inspection pit, overpass or lift.
You will need: socket heads "10", "13", M8 studs (5 pcs.) at least 20 mm long.
1. Drain the engine oil (see "Changing engine oil and oil filter").

2. Remove the four bolts securing the gearbox to the oil pan.

3. Unscrew the 13 bolts securing the oil pan to the engine cylinder block, carefully pry it off with a screwdriver and remove the oil pan. The blind holes in the cylinder block for the bolts, shown by the red arrows, must be protected from sealant. To do this, screw five M8 studs into the cylinder block.
4. Clean the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block from old sealant.
5. Apply a special sealant-gasket (FORD WSE-M4G323-A4 or its equivalent) to the mating surface of the oil pan in the form of a bead with a diameter of 3–4 mm, while the line of application of the sealant should pass from the inside of the mounting holes.
6. No later than 10 minutes after applying the sealant, install the oil pan on the cylinder block, unscrew the studs and screw in the pan mounting bolts without tightening.
Attention! To ensure the tightness of the seal, the following two operations must be completed no later than 5 minutes after installing the crankcase.
7. Install the four gearbox mounting bolts to the oil pan and tighten them to 47.0 N·m (4.7 kgf·m).

8. Tighten the crankcase mounting bolts in the order shown in two stages:
- Stage 1 - Pre-tightening with a torque of 10.0 Nm (1.0 kgf·m);
- Stage 2 – final tightening to a torque of 20.0 Nm (2.0 kgf·m).
9. Fill the engine with oil (see "Changing engine oil and oil filter").
Note: You can fill the oil and start the engine no earlier than one hour after installing the oil pan: this time is necessary for the sealant to polymerize.
