Right crankshaft seal ring
Remove the oil pump. Remove the oil seal ring from the pump (see Fig. 2C.57). Clean the seal ring seat and the crankshaft journal. Install the oil pump.
Lubricate the working edges and the outer surface of the sealing ring with engine oil. Using the special tool FORD 21-093A, install a new sealing ring (see Fig. 2C.58).
If there is no special tool for installing the sealing ring, insert it manually, being careful, so that the end surface of the sealing ring is at the level of the pump cover (see Fig. 2C.59).
Wipe the end surface of the sealing ring and the oil pump from oil residues. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Left crankshaft seal ring
Remove the gearbox. Remove the clutch. Unscrew the flywheel or drive plate mounting bolts. Remove the oil pan.
Remove the sealing ring cover (see Fig. 2C.60).
Place the sealing ring cover on the stands and remove the sealing ring from the cover (see Fig. 2C.61).
Clean the O-ring seat and crankshaft journal.
Install the sealing ring cover onto the cylinder block using a new gasket (see Fig. 2C.62).
Using a measuring tool, position the crankshaft cover exactly around the crankshaft, and align the surface mating with the oil pan with the same surface of the cylinder block or lower by 0.3-0.8 mm. Secure the cover with bolts, tightening them to the required torque (see Fig. 2C.63).
Using the special tool FORD 21-141 install the sealing ring into the seat. To install the sealing ring into the seat, use the two flywheel mounting bolts. If there is no special tool for installing the sealing ring, wrap the crankshaft flange for installing the flywheel with thin steel tape and, having lubricated the working edges of the sealing ring, manually insert it into the seat (see Fig. 2C.64)
Wipe off any remaining oil from the end of the sealing ring and cover and perform further installation in the reverse order of removal.
