Withdrawal

Remove the ground wire from the battery. Remove the elements of the air supply system to the engine. Remove the accelerator cable from the throttle. Remove the top timing belt cover.

Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover (see fig. 2C.3).

Remove high voltage wires from spark plugs. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the cylinder head cover together with the gasket, noting the position of the rubber gaskets and washers (see fig. 2C.4).

The cover gasket must be replaced each time the cover is removed. If the rubber seals are deformed, they must also be replaced.

Installation

Completely clean the cylinder head cover and the mating surface on the cylinder head and install the gasket in the groove of the cover (see fig. 2C.5).

Install the cover on the head, then insert the rubber gaskets and washers and tighten the mounting bolts so that the cover gasket remains seated in the cover groove (see fig. 2C.6).

Working in a diagonal sequence from center to edge, and in two steps, tighten the head cover bolts.

Install high voltage wires. Reinstall the crankcase breather hose and toothed belt cover. Connect the accelerator cable and elements of the air supply system to the engine.
