Removal
Remove the ground cable from the battery. Remove the engine air supply system components. Remove the accelerator cable from the throttle. Remove the upper timing belt cover.
Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover (see Fig. 2C.3).

Remove the high-voltage wires from the spark plugs. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the cylinder head cover together with the gasket, noting the position of the rubber gaskets and washers (see Fig. 2C.4).

The lid gasket must be replaced each time the lid is removed. If the rubber gaskets are deformed, they must also be replaced.
Installation
Completely clean the cylinder head cover and the mating surface on the cylinder head and install the gasket in the cover groove (see Fig. 2C.5).

Install the cover on the head, then insert the rubber gaskets and washers and tighten the mounting bolts so that the cover gasket remains placed in the cover groove (see Fig. 2C.6).

Working in a diagonal sequence from center to edge, and in two stages, tighten the head cover mounting bolts.
Install the high-voltage wires. Reinstall the crankcase ventilation hose and timing belt cover. Connect the accelerator cable and engine air supply system components.
