Tension mechanism


Attention. When replacing a timing belt, a new head cover gasket, some special tools, a tensioner spring, and a spring retaining pin are required.


Release the toothed belt tension by retracting the tensioner (see the corresponding description in the section "Removing the toothed belt"). Unscrew bolts of fastening of the mechanism of a tension and remove the mechanism of a tension. disconnecting the spring. Check tensioner spring and replace if necessary (see fig. 2C.21).



Install the spring onto the pin and tensioner shield, then install the tensioner, aligning the shield with the alignment guide. Using the key inserted in the center, turn the tensioner clockwise as far as it will go. then tighten the tensioner mounting bolt. Recheck the position of the camshafts and the toothed belt tension (see the corresponding description in the section "Timing belt installation").

Camshaft and crankshaft pulleys


Remove toothed belt (see the corresponding description in the section "Removing the toothed belt").

After removing the toothed belt, the camshaft pulleys can be removed after unscrewing the mounting bolts (see the corresponding description in the section "Removing the toothed belt"). The crankshaft pulley can be removed from the crankshaft by removing the auxiliary crankshaft belt pulley and removing the timing belt from the crankshaft pulley.


Pay attention to labeling "FRONT", indicating the front of the pulley, and the location of the axle ring (see fig. 2C.22).



Check the condition of the pulleys. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
