Replacement of sealing rings of a camshaft

            0

Loosen toothed belt tension (see the corresponding description in the section "Removing the toothed belt").

Attention. If the timing belt is covered with engine oil, remove the timing belt, replace the O-rings, thoroughly clean the front of the engine, and install a new timing belt.

If the toothed belt is clean, remove it from the pulley without twisting it too much. Do not rotate the crankshaft with the toothed belt removed.

Unscrew the bolt and remove the pulley from the camshaft. Remove the right camshaft bearing cap bolt and remove the defective oil seal ring. Clean the o-ring seat and clean. bullying or risks that are possible. led to the failure of the sealing ring. Install a new sealing ring. Ford recommends the use of special tool 21-0096 with bolt (M 10x70) and a mandrel with which the O-ring is pushed into place when the camshaft bearing cap is in place. Before installation, it is necessary to lubricate the working edges of the sealing ring and the socket with engine oil (see fig. 2C.23).

For most owners, the easiest method to install the O-ring is after removing the bearing cap. Lubricate the sealing ring with engine oil and slide it onto the camshaft, then install the bearing cover. Check that the O-ring is not deformed when installing and tightening the cover bolts (see fig. 2C.24).

Install the pulley on the camshaft and put the toothed belt on the pulley.

Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
