For inspection, the cylinder head can be removed without removing the engine from the car. All engines (except the 1.1 engine) have camshafts located in the cylinder heads and driven by toothed belts.
In the 1.1 engine, the camshaft is located in the engine housing and is driven by a chain tensioned by a tensioner.
