Replacing the cylinder head cover gasket

If oil leakage from under the cylinder head cover could not be eliminated by tightening the cover bolts, replace its gasket.

You will need a key «at 12».

1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.



2. Remove the air filter (see «Removal and installation of the air filter»).



3. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the top cover of a timing belt to a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.



4. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover.




5. Remove from spark plugs tips of high-voltage wires.



6. Unscrew the air filter holders from the cylinder head cover studs…



7.... and remove the holders.



8. Turn away a nut of fastening of an arm of a plait of a plait of wires of the gauge of concentration of oxygen …




9.... and remove the bracket from the stud bolt.



10. Turn out three bolts hairpins of fastening of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders …



11.... nine bolts securing the cylinder head cover..



12.... and remove the cover.




13. Remove the old gasket from the slots in the cylinder head cover.



14. Clean the surface of the block head from the remnants of the old gasket.

15. Install the cylinder head cover with a new gasket and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal. Bolts and bolts-studs of fastening of a cover tighten in the order shown in fig. 5.2, in two steps:
  • 1st stage - pre-tightening with a torque of 3.0 Nm (0.3 kgf·m);
  • 2nd stage - final tightening with a torque of 9.0 Nm (0.9 kgf·m).
