Removal
Remove the gearbox. Remove the clutch. Make alignment marks on the flywheel or drive plate and the crankshaft.
Secure the flywheel from turning by the teeth of the ring gear and unscrew the flywheel mounting bolts.
Caution When installing the flywheel, use only new bolts.
Carefully remove the flywheel.
Examination
Clean the flywheel. Check the flywheel running surface for cracks, grooves, burns and scratches. Minor damage can be removed using sandpaper.
Check the mating surfaces of the flywheel or drive plate and crankshaft.
Installation
Install the flywheel or drive plate onto the crankshaft flange so that the holes for the flywheel mounting bolts are aligned with the holes in the crankshaft flange.
Secure the flywheel from turning using the same method as when unscrewing the flywheel. Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts in a diagonal sequence to the required torque.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
