Checking the flywheel (Fiesta 2)

            0

The flywheel interacts with the clutch. One of the friction surfaces of the driven clutch disc touches the flywheel. The flywheel surface interacting with the clutch disc should be checked to determine its wear and to inspect it for burns caused by high operating temperatures (slipping of the driven clutch disc).

It is permissible to remove (as a result of boring) a layer of 1.0 mm thickness from the side of the flywheel working surface. Visually inspect the toothed ring on the flywheel. whether there are any broken or damaged teeth on it. Also assess the degree of wear of the toothed ring. In case of damage or significant wear of the toothed ring, it must be replaced. To do this, use a hammer and a steel rod with a diameter of about 25 mm and remove the toothed ring from the flywheel.

Heat the new ring gear to a temperature of 180°-230°C, using, for example, a hot air blower. The temperature can be determined by the color of the part, which should turn gray. The mounting surface must be thoroughly cleaned.

The heated crown is installed on the flywheel in one quick motion. Pay attention to the fact that the cuts on the ends of the teeth are on the side where it is required. They should be directed towards the moving pinion of the starter.
