Inspection of the ball joint
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.
2. Firmly grasp the outer end of the lower control arm and try to move the arm up and down, feeling and visually detecting any play in the arm. Play (slack) is usually accompanied by an audible "click." There should be no play at all.
3. If there is any play, install a new lower control arm. Refer to Section 204-01 for additional information.
4. When installing a new lower arm, the front wheel alignment must be checked and adjusted. For more information, refer to the General Specifications section.
