Inspection and verification


1. Check the customer's complaint.

2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical damage.

3. If an obvious cause of the problem you identified or described by the client is found, eliminate it before proceeding to further actions (if possible).

4. If the problem is not visually obvious, check the symptom and refer to the Symptom Chart.

  • Bushing of the lower arm of the front suspension
  • Front suspension strut assembly with spring
  • Vehicle front and rear anti-roll bars and their link arms
  • Trailing arm rear suspension
  • Rear suspension spring
  • Rear shock absorber
  • Front and rear lower rear suspension arms
  • Upper arm rear suspension
  • Rear wheel knuckle

•CHECK and CORRECT tire pressure (Oh). INSPECTION the tire (s) for increased wear.

• Wrong vehicle height (front or back, above or below normal)

•CHECK for abnormal load, coil spring deflection, or non-standard spring installation.

• Worn or damaged steering gear or steering gear

•Check the steering system. REFER to Section 211-00

•Brake system

•Check the brakes. REFER to Section 206-00

• Incorrect wheel alignment

•Go to Pinpoint Test A.

Lack of steering centering

• Wrong vehicle height (front or back, above or below normal)

•CHECK for abnormal load, coil spring deflection, or non-standard spring installation.

• Power steering or steering gear

•Check the steering system. REFER to Section 211-00

•Ball joint of the lower suspension arm

•Refer to Ch. "Checking the elements", presented in this section.

• Incorrect wheel alignment

•Go to Pinpoint Test B.

• Incorrect track following

• Damage to the rear suspension

•Go to Pinpoint Test C.

• Uneven movement pattern

• Front and rear anti-roll bars, their connecting arms and bushings

•Check and install new elements if necessary. Refer to Section 204-01 (Front suspension). Refer to Section 204-02 (Rear suspension).

• Bushing of the lower arm of the front suspension

•Check and install new bushings if necessary. REFER to Section 204-01

• Rear suspension arm bushing

•Check and install a new lever if necessary. REFER to Section 204-02.

• Front suspension strut assembly with spring

•Check front suspension strut assembly with spring. REFER to Section 204-01.

•Rear shock absorber

•Check the rear shock absorber. REFER to Section 204-02.

•Incorrect tire pressure

•Check tire pressure. REFER to Section 204-04.

•Increased noise

• Wear of front wheel bearings

• Wear of the ball joint of the lower arm of the front suspension

•Go to Pinpoint Test E.

• If necessary, install a new lower front suspension arm. REFER to Section 204-01.

•Incorrect tire wear patterns

•Incorrect tire pressure

•Check tire pressure. REFER to Section 204-04.

• Incorrect wheel alignment

•Go to Pinpoint Test F.

•Vibration

•Wheel/tire imbalance or increased runout

•Go to Pinpoint test G.

•Wheels/tires

•Check tires. Rebalance the wheels or install new wheels/tires if necessary. REFER to Section 204-04.

• Incorrect wheel alignment

•Go to Pinpoint Test A.

• Steering system

•Check the steering system. REFER to Section 211-00.

• Front suspension strut assembly with spring

•Go to Pinpoint test D.

• Front pillar support

• Tighten the A-pillar support. Repair or install new elements as necessary.

• Damage to the lower arm of the front suspension

•Go to Pinpoint Test E.

• Damage or wear of the bushing of the lower arm of the front suspension

•Go to Pinpoint Test E.

• Damaged or worn front wheel bearing

•Go to Pinpoint test G.
