Checking the battery

            0

Make sure the battery tray is in good condition and the clamp is securely tightened. Traces of corrosion on the tray, clamp and the battery itself can be removed with an aqueous solution of soda. Then rinse the treated surfaces thoroughly with water. Coat metal parts damaged by corrosion with a zinc-based primer and paint over.

Periodically (about once every three months) check the charge state of the battery as described in chapter 5A.

If the battery is low and you need to start the engine from the backup battery.

1. The battery is located in the left front corner of the engine compartment. It must be periodically inspected to check for cracks in the body and cover.

2. Check that the clamps are securely fastened to the terminals, which ensures reliable electrical contact. A well-tightened clamp cannot be turned on the terminal. Also check the battery wires for damage.

3. If there are signs of corrosion on the terminals or clamps (white loose deposits), disconnect the wires from the terminals, clean them with a wire brush and reinstall. In stores with related products, you can find special tools for cleaning the terminals...

4....and battery wire clamps.

Advice

Battery corrosion can be minimized by lubricating the battery terminals and clamps after connecting them with petroleum jelly.
