1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the timing belt (see "Replacing the timing belt").

3. Remove the crankshaft toothed pulley (see Fig. 5.18).
4. Using a screwdriver, remove the seal from the oil pump housing.
5. Lubricate the working edge of the new seal with engine oil, install the seal into the oil pump housing, orienting its working edge inside the engine, and press it in until it stops using a mandrel. You can use a head from a tool kit of a suitable size or an old seal as a mandrel.
6. Install all removed parts and assemblies of the timing mechanism in the reverse order of removal.
7. Adjust the timing belt tension (see "Replacing the timing belt").
Rear oil seal replace the crankshaft as follows.
1. Remove the gearbox (see "Removing and installing the gearbox").
2. Remove the clutch (see "Removing and installing the clutch").
3. Remove the flywheel (see "Removal, installation and inspection of the flywheel").
4. Inspect the seal. If the seal is not sealed, oil will be visible at the bottom.
5. Remove the six bolts securing the oil seal holder to the cylinder block…
6. …and remove the holder together with the oil seal.
NOTE: The crankshaft rear oil seal and retainer gasket are bonded to the retainer, so if the oil seal leaks, replace the entire assembly.
NOTE: Pay attention to the markings on the oil seal retainer. Purchase an oil seal assembly with the same markings.
7. Lubricate the working edge of the new oil seal with engine oil, install the oil seal holder on the cylinder block, orienting the oil seal with the working edge inside the engine, and carefully tuck the working edge onto the crankshaft journal.
8. Tighten the oil seal retainer mounting bolts evenly in a crisscross pattern to the torque specified in Appendix 1.
