Replacing the oil filter (Fiesta 2)

In 1.1/1.4i/1.6i engines the oil filter is located on the side of the engine housing. In the diesel engine the filter is screwed onto a bracket located on the side of the engine housing.

The filter has a filter element and a safety valve that opens when the filter element is completely clogged. The valve opens the side passage of oil, bypassing the oil filter, which protects the engine bearings from rubbing caused by insufficient oil.

Only the same type of filter may be used as a replacement. The filter may only be tightened by hand. Lubricate the filter gasket with oil before installation. Carefully follow the operating instructions located on the body of each filter.
