Oil pump check

            0

Checking the operation of the oil pump is carried out according to a very simple technique, but requiring the removal and disassembly of the pump into parts.

Remove and disassemble the oil pump apart.

Degrease pump parts.

Check pump parts for wear. If visibly worn parts are found, the pump must be replaced along with the end cap. Pumps installed on 1.1 engines and 1.8 diesel engines cannot be repaired. The inspection is limited to finding and detecting obvious wear.

In the oil pumps of 1.4i / 1.6i engines, the following clearances take place:
  • the gap between the gear with internal teeth and the housing - 0.14-0.26 mm,
  • the gap between the gear with internal teeth and the gear with external teeth - 0.051-0.127 mm,
  • axial clearance between the gear and the seal is 0.025-0.06 mm.

The gaps can be checked with a feeler gauge. If the clearances exceed the specified values, the oil pump must be replaced.

Details of the oil pump of the engine 1,4i are shown in fig. 2.81.
