Description of the lubrication system

            0

The lubrication system supplies the engine with the oil it needs to run. The oil pump is located at the front of the engine. It pumps oil from the oil sump through the filter to the bearings, primarily the crankshaft and camshaft. The filter is located in the path of the main oil flow that feeds the lubrication system.

In addition to lubricating the interacting parts, the oil also removes the heat generated during engine operation. The oil drained into the oil crankcase gives off the heat it receives to the crankcase walls, which in turn are cooled by the air blown from the outside. On fig. 2.80 shows a diagram of the lubrication system in the 1.4i engine.
