Warnings: Brake fluid is toxic and will corrode your vehicle's paintwork. Handle it with care. When bleeding the brakes, support the vehicle on jack stands.
The procedure for performing work for vehicles with disc/drum brakes and with a combination of disc and drum brakes is the same.
Remove the master brake cylinder as follows:
- the brake system can be emptied in two ways. The first method involves inserting a bleed hose into one of the threaded plugs of the bleed hole, and lowering the other end of the hose into a container, opening the bleed nipple and completely draining the brake fluid by pressing the brake pedal. The second method involves pumping the brake fluid out of the reservoir using a vacuum cleaner:
- disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector from the locking cover and unscrew the cover;
- if you have a manual transmission, loosen and remove the hose from the tank side;
- disconnect the brake pipes from the main brake cylinder side using a special key, while placing a rag under the connecting nuts to collect the leaking brake fluid;
- unscrew the master brake cylinder from the front wall of the brake booster using a replaceable socket head and a ratchet mechanism.

Fig. 267 shows the master brake cylinder installed on a vehicle.
Install in the reverse order of removal. After installation, fill the system with brake fluid and bleed as described in the relevant section. Tighten the cylinder mount to 25 N·m, the union nuts to 13 N·m.
