- disconnect the storage battery;
- remove the ashtray;
- Remove a head of the lever of a gear change;

- using a screwdriver, carefully wring out the cuff of the lever together with the switching plate, as shown in fig. 276;
- if there is a screwdriver adjustable with the help of the electronic wheel suspension control unit, remove the switch, in order to avoid damage, place a soft base under the tip of the screwdriver;
- Disconnect the multicontact connector and remove the switch;
- from the front side, on the side of the console, unscrew the four cap screws, three screws in the middle, and then on the front side in the middle, unscrew the remaining four screws;
- remove the rubber casing of the lever through the parking brake and disconnect the cigarette lighter connector;
- Raise the rear of the car on supports;
- remove the heat shield (if it is installed) under the details of the exhaust system and release the exhaust pipe from the hangers;

- on both sides, release the parking brake cables from the balancers and hang them from the lever, in fig. 278 shows where the cables are suspended;
- unscrew the two bolts securing the parking brake lever, remove the lever and remove two cables from it, the cable is held by a small roller.
Install in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that the cable is correctly located in the parking brake mechanism.
