- disconnect the battery;
- remove the ashtray;
- remove the gear shift lever head;

- using a screwdriver, carefully press the lever sleeve together with the shift plate, as shown in Fig. 276;
- if there is a wheel suspension adjustable by means of an electronic control unit, use a screwdriver to remove the switch; to avoid damage, place a soft base under the screwdriver tip;
- disconnect the multi-pin connector and remove the switch;
- from the front side, on the console side, unscrew the four cap screws, three bolts in the middle, and then on the front side in the middle unscrew the remaining four bolts;
- remove the rubber cover of the lever through the parking brake and disconnect the cigarette lighter connector;
- Raise the rear of the car on supports;
- disconnect the heat shield (if installed) under the exhaust system components and release the exhaust pipe from the hangers;

- on both sides, release the parking brake cables from the balancers and hang them from the lever, Fig. 278 shows where the cables are suspended;
- unscrew the two bolts securing the parking brake lever, remove the lever and remove the two cables from it; the cable is held by a small roller.
Install in the reverse order of removal. Make sure the cable is positioned correctly in the parking brake mechanism.
