Replacing the parking brake cables

1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and release the parking brake.

2. Unlock the adjusting nut by inserting a screwdriver between it and the sleeve.

3. Remove rear wheels and hubs (brake drums).

4. Remove the parking brake tip from the parking brake lever and remove it from the brake shield.

5. Remove the right cable from the cable connector.



6. Remove the spring clips and remove the cables from the bracket and guides on the bottom of the car.



7. In the passenger compartment, remove the front parking brake cable from the parking brake lever by removing the spring clip and removing the pin from the lever.

8. Press the cable guide back, remove the cable through the bottom and remove it from the guide.

9. The parking brake cables are installed in the reverse order of removal.

10. Lubricate the cable groove on the equalizer with grease and adjust the cable tension.
