Attention! When reinstalling the brake pads, they must be installed in the places from which they were removed. It is not allowed to change the pads in places.

Attention! Since 1987, brake pads have been serially installed that do not emit extraneous sounds when the brakes are cold. Such pads can also be installed on cars of earlier releases. Catalog numbers for new pads: for conventional brake discs - 6178479, for ventilated - 6178480.

Withdrawal

1. Loosen the wheel bolts, raise the vehicle, unscrew the bolts and remove the wheels.

2. If there is a brake pad wear indicator, disconnect the connector from the caliper.

3. Use a narrow screwdriver to remove the retaining clip (left - 1981, right - 1988).

4. Using a 7 mm socket wrench, unscrew the bolts securing the caliper to the bracket.

5. Remove the caliper cylinder housing and use a soft wire to hang it from the suspension strut.

6. Remove the inner brake pad from the caliper cylinder body.

7. Remove the outer brake pad from the bracket.

8. Draw some brake fluid out of the reservoir and press the piston completely into the brake cylinder. Keep an eye on the brake fluid level in the reservoir while pushing the piston in.

Attention! When the brake pads are removed, do not press the brake pedal, as this will force the piston out of the cylinder.

Installation

1. Thoroughly clean the guides and pad seats.

2. Check the condition of the dust cap and piston seal.

3. Measure the brake disc thickness.

4. Install the inner brake shoe with the spring on the back side into the cylinder body.

5. If there is a brake pad wear sensor, pass the sensor wire into the caliper hole and fasten it to the bleed valve (1 - bleed valve, 2 - brake pad wear indicator connector). The free minimum wire length must be at least 26 mm.

6. Install the outer brake pad into the bracket.

7. Install the cylinder body and tighten the mounting bolts.

8. Install the mounting bracket.

9. Install the front wheels and lower the car.
