Brake fluid level
It is necessary to periodically check the brake fluid level in the reservoir located on the main brake cylinder. The brake fluid level should not be higher than the "MAX" mark and lower than the "MIN" mark by 8 mm. Use only Ford SAM-6C-9103 A or Ford SAM-6C-9103 C brake fluid for topping up or replacing.
If the brake fluid level drops significantly over a short period of time, it is necessary to determine the location of the fluid leak.
Every 10,000 km, check the thickness of the brake pads. With a brake pad thickness of 3.5 mm, the remaining service life of the pads is 20,000 km of vehicle mileage.
Replace brake fluid every three years.
Periodically check the operation of the parking brake. Raise the rear of the car and, turning the wheel, tighten the brake lever. When tightening by two teeth, you should feel a slight braking, and when tightening by five teeth, the wheels should turn with difficulty. Otherwise, make adjustments.
Check the condition of all seals and replace them if necessary.
Check the condition of all pipelines:
- metal pipelines must not have mechanical damage or corrosion;
- brake hoses should not have any cracks on the outer casing visible to the naked eye or signs of abrasion; they must not come into contact with mineral oils and lubricants that dissolve rubber; press the brake pedal hard to check whether the hoses show any swelling, indicating that they are not suitable;
- all pipe fastening brackets must hold the pipes securely; loosening of fastenings or destruction of brackets leads to vibration of pipelines, causing their breakage.
