Front brakes

Service and repair of front brakes are carried out in the same way as for brakes without anti-lock system (see subsection 10.2).

Rear brakes

Replacement of brake columns

Attention! It is recommended to replace all brake pads of both rear brakes at the same time when at least one of the brake pads reaches the minimum thickness. Brake pads of the specified make and type must be used.

1. Loosen rear wheel nuts.

2. Check if the handbrake is on.

3. Raise and secure the rear of the vehicle on stands and remove the rear wheels.

4. Disconnect the handbrake cable from the caliper on the rear suspension arm.

5. Loosen the rear bolt securing the caliper to the holder while holding the caliper guide pin with a flat wrench.

6. Unscrew and remove the front bolt securing the caliper to the holder, holding the guide pin of the caliper with a flat wrench.

7. Rotate the caliper up relative to the holder (on the rear mounting bolt).

8. Remove brake pads.

9. Carefully press the piston into the caliper cylinder using a suitable block of wood, being careful not to damage the elastic piston casing.

10. Check:
  • condition of the piston casing;
  • caliper surface condition;
  • condition of the brake disc;
  • no signs of brake fluid leakage.

11. Install new brake pads.

12. Rotate caliper (on the rear mounting bolt).

13. Insert anti-vibration plate (if used).

14. Tighten the caliper-to-holder bolts to the appropriate torque.

15. Hook the handbrake cable to the rear suspension arm caliper.

16. Check if the brake disc can rotate freely with the brake pedal released.

17. Put on the rear wheels and lower the car.

18. Tighten the rear wheel nuts to the correct torque.

Removal and installation of a support

Attention! Before removing the caliper, the hydraulic accumulator of the brake system must be drained. To do this, turn off the ignition and press the brake pedal all the way (about 20 times), until she becomes "solid".

1. Loosen rear wheel nuts.

2. Raise and secure the rear of the vehicle and remove the corresponding wheel.

3. Raise and secure the rear of the vehicle and remove the corresponding wheel.

4. Disconnect the handbrake cable from the lever on the caliper.

5. Disconnect brake hoses from lines. Close the openings in the pipelines with appropriate plugs.

6. Unscrew and remove the caliper holder mounting bolts.

7. Remove the caliper holder and caliper.

8. To install the caliper, you must follow the steps in reverse order with respect to the process of removing it and remove air from the brake system.

Disassembly and assembly of the caliper

The method of disassembling and assembling the caliper is described when removing and installing brake pads (see subsection 10.3.2).

Caliper repair

1. Remove brake caliper (see above).

2. Detach the caliper from the holder.

3. Install the caliper in a vise.

4. Pull the piston out of the caliper with special tool 12.006 until it protrudes from the cylinder by approx. 20 mm.

5. Remove the elastic casing from the piston groove.

6. Remove the piston completely from the cylinder.

7. Remove the flexible piston cover.

8. Thoroughly wash the piston and cylinder.

9. Carefully check the condition of all parts. All scratches or signs of wear on the surface of the piston or cylinder mean that the complete caliper must be replaced.

10. When assembling, replace all seals and lubricate the components with brake fluid.

11. Connect the caliper to its holder.

12. Install and secure the caliper in the car (see subsection 10.2.2).

13. Remove air from the brake system.

Brake disc replacement

1. Loosen the nuts on the corresponding rear wheel.

2. Raise the car and remove the wheel.

3. Disconnect the handbrake cable from the caliper on the rear suspension arm.

4. Unscrew the two caliper mounting bolts.

5. Hang the caliper under the car with soft wire, being careful not to damage the brake hoses.

6. Mark the position of the disc relative to the wheel hub.

7. Remove the brake disc circlip.

8. Remove brake disc.

9. Install the brake disc in relation to the wheel hub in accordance with the markings made during removal, and put on the spring adjusting ring.

10. Fasten the support.

11. Hook the handbrake cable to the bracket on the rear suspension arm.

12. Install the wheel and lower the car.

13. Tighten the wheel nuts to the required torque.

14. Depress the brake pedal several times to bring the brake pads into contact with the brake disc.
