You will need: a 7 mm wrench, a 10 mm socket head, pliers, and a flat-blade screwdriver.
1. Use a screwdriver to pry up the edge of the parking brake lever boot frame…
2. …detach the frame from the floor tunnel lining, overcoming the elastic resistance of its clamps, and remove the cover from the lever.
3. Completely loosen the tension of the front parking brake cable by unscrewing and removing the lock nut from the threaded end of the cable and unscrewing the adjusting nut to the very end of the end, but do not unscrew the nut completely (see "Adjusting the Parking Brake Drive").
4. Remove the additional muffler heat shield from underneath the vehicle (see "Removing and installing heat shields").
5. Slide the lower end of the cable back into the equalizer…
6. …and, turning the cable downwards, remove its tip from the equalizer.
7. Using pliers, squeeze the clamps of the front stops of the rear cable casings..
8. …remove the stops from the bracket on the body.
NOTE: Please note that the cable housing stops are different colors, and the cables themselves are installed in the bracket crosswise (the right rear cable with a white stop is installed in the left hole of the bracket, and the left cable with a black stop is installed in the right hole).
9. Bend back the stops in the rear cable connectors…
10. …and, moving the tips deep into the couplings…
11. …disconnect the cables from the couplings.
12. Remove the right cable sheath from the plastic holder on the body.
NOTE: Replace the damaged holder by unscrewing it from the stud on the body.
13. Bend back the steel holder of the left cable sheath…
14. …and remove the cable from the holder.
15. Remove one bolt each securing the cable holders to the rear suspension arms…
16. …and, having pulled the holders inside the levers…
17. …remove the rear cables from the vehicle.
18. To replace the rear cable extension installed inside the rear wheel brake mechanism, remove the mechanism brake shoes (see "Replacing the rear wheel brake pads").
19. Disconnect the cable extension end from the parking brake release lever.
20. Use pliers to squeeze the extension holder latches…
21. …and, having pushed the holder into the hole in the brake shield, remove the rear cable extension.
22. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
23. Adjust the parking brake system (see "Adjusting the Parking Brake Drive").
