Removal and installation of the parking brake lever

Remove the lever assembly for replacement when the gear sector or pawl is worn or damaged.

You will need: keys «for 8», «on 10», «at 13», flat blade screwdriver.

1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.



2. Remove the lining of the floor tunnel (cm. «Removal and installation of floor tunnel lining»).

NOTE: Driver's seat removed for clarity. The seat does not need to be removed to gain access to the trim mountings and the parking brake lever.

3. Lower the parking brake lever down to the stop, completely unscrew and remove the lock nut from the threaded tip of the front cable..



4.... adjusting nut..




5.... and a flat washer.



6. Use a screwdriver to bend the retainer of the front parking brake cable sheath.



7. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the switch of an alarm lamp of a condition of brake system and inclusion of a parking brake to an arm of the lever of a drive of a lay brake …




8.... press the retainer of the wiring harness block with a screwdriver..



9.... disconnect the block and remove the switch.



10. Turn out three bolts of fastening of the lever of a drive of a parking brake to the basis of a body …



11.... lifting the lever, push the tip of the cable out of the guide in the lever with a screwdriver..




12.... and remove the lever.

13. Before installation on the car grease the gear sector of the lever with lubricating grease.

14. Install the lever in the reverse order of removal and adjust the parking brake system (cm. «Parking brake actuator adjustment»).
