Pic. 9.7. Removing the rear parking brake cables: 1 - front parking brake cable; 2 - equalizer; 3 - adjusting nut; 4 – back cables of a drive of a parking brake; 5 – an arm of fastening of covers of back cables of a drive of a parking brake; 6 - stops of the shells of the rear cables of the parking brake drive.

Replace the rear parking brake cables if they are overstretched (impossibility of adjusting the parking brake) and mechanical damage to the cable cores or their sheaths.

You will need: keys "for 13", "for 17", pliers, a screwdriver with a flat blade.

1. Place the vehicle on a lift or pit. If you are working on a pit, jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on secure stands.

2. Remove rear wheels.

3. Disconnect the intake pipe of the additional muffler from the exhaust pipe (see Removal and installation of the main and additional mufflers), remove the suspension cushions from the muffler brackets and lower the muffler down, resting the intermediate pipe on the rear suspension cross member.

4. Remove the thermal screen of the additional muffler (see Removing and installing thermal shields).

5. Completely loosen the parking brake cables, to do this, unscrew the adjusting nut 3 (pic. 9.7) to the very end of the threaded lug of the front cable, but do not unscrew completely (refer to Parking Brake Actuator Adjustment).

6. Pulling the cables 4 forward, remove their tips from the slots of the equalizer 2.

7. Squeezing the clamps of the front stops of the shells of the rear cables with pliers..

8.... remove the stops from the bracket on the body.

NOTE: Please note that the cables are installed crosswise into the bracket (the right rear cable is installed in the left hole of the bracket, and the left rear cable is installed in the right hole).

9. Grab the tip of the rear parking brake cable with fine jaw pliers..

10.... and remove it from the slot of the expanding lever.

11. Remove the tip of the parking brake cable sheath from the bracket hole on the caliper by squeezing the tip retainers, and disconnect the cable from the caliper.

12. Remove the thermal shield of the intermediate pipe (see Removing and installing thermal shields).

13. Remove the protective casings of pipelines and cables of the parking brake drive by unscrewing the bolts of their fastening to the base of the body.

14. Remove the rear cable holders from the holes on the trailing arms of the rear suspension.

15. Remove the shells of the rear parking brake cables from the holders on the cross member of the base of the body and remove the cables from the vehicle.

16. Install the rear parking brake cables and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

17. Adjust parking brake actuator (refer to Parking Brake Actuator Adjustment).
