1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on stands. Release the parking brake completely.
Front cable
2. Loosen the parking brake cable adjusting nut (see figure 12.3).
3. Disconnect the front cable from the rear cable where they join on the left side of the vehicle (see diagram).

4. Press the tabs on the cable stopper that is clamped to the body bracket (just before the cable connection) and push the cable and housing through the bracket.
5. Push the sealing sleeve up through the floor tray.
6. Working inside the vehicle, remove the left impact panel, then roll up the carpet. Disconnect the end of the cable from the bracket (see illustration).

7. Press the cable housing stop tabs and push the cable down through the parking brake pedal bracket.
8. Working underneath the vehicle, push the cable block out through the opening in the floor pan.
9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Be sure to adjust as stated in section 12.
Rear cables
10. Unscrew the parking brake adjusting nut (see figure 12.3).
11. Remove the rear wheel and brake drum/hub assembly (see section 5).
12. Disconnect the end of the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever (see figure 6.5).
13. Press the tabs on the cable sheath stopper and push the cable through the brake shield (see figure).

14. Press the stopper tabs on the guide bracket on the body wall (next to the regulator), push the cable through it.
15. For the left cable only, disconnect the rear cable from the front cable where they join (see Figure 13.3), then pass the cable through the side guide bracket.
16. For the right cable only: Cut the retaining bands of the lower suspension arms and unscrew the cable bracket screw on the cross member, then remove the cable from the vehicle.
17. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Adjust the cable as described in section 12.
