Parking brake pedal — removal and installation (Taurus 1 and 2)

1. Release the parking brake completely.

2. Loosen the adjusting nut to completely remove the tension from the cables (see section 12).

3. Disconnect the release cable from the pedal assembly (see illustration).

4. Support bolts.


4. Pull out the electrical connector of the parking brake switch. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum motor if the vehicle is equipped with an automatic brake release system.

5. Unscrew the mechanism support bolts.

6. Disconnect the parking brake cable, then press the cable housing tabs by pushing the housing through the pedal bracket.

7. Remove the pedal assembly.

8. Install the pedal unit in the reverse order. Adjust the parking brake cable as described in section 12.
