Replacing the rear parking brake cables

Replace the rear parking brake cables if they are overstretched (impossibility of adjusting the parking brake), mechanical damage to the cable cores or their sheaths.

You will need: key «on 7», end head «on 10», pliers, flat blade screwdriver.

1. Completely loosen the front parking brake cable, to do this, unscrew and remove the lock nut from the threaded end of the cable, and unscrew the adjusting nut to the very end of the end, but do not unscrew the nut completely (see «Parking brake actuator adjustment»).



2. Slide back the lower end of the cable 1 in the equalizer 2 and, turning the cable down, remove its end from the equalizer. Squeezing the clamps of the front stops of the shells of the rear cables with pliers, remove the stops from the bracket on the body.



3. Bend the stops in the rear cable connectors..




4.... and, having moved the tips deep into the couplings, disconnect the cables from the couplings.



5. Squeeze the latches of the left cable with a screwdriver..



6.... and remove the cable from the bracket on the left rear suspension arm.



7. Remove the rubber cable holder from the bracket on the lower arm..




8.... from the plastic bracket on the floor panel and remove the cable.

9. Remove the right cable in the same way.

10. To replace the rear cable extension installed inside the rear wheel brake, remove the rear brake pads (see «Replacing the brake pads of the brake mechanism of the rear wheel»).



11. Squeeze the latches with a screwdriver..



12.... and remove the cable holders from the brake shields.




13. Bend the stops in the rear cable connectors by sliding the tips deep into the connectors, and disconnect the rear cable extensions from the connectors.



14. Disconnect the tip of the cable extension from the parking brake release lever..



15.... and, pushing the holder into the hole in the brake shield, remove the rear cable extension.

16. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

17. Adjust parking brake actuator (see «Parking brake actuator adjustment»).
