NOTE: This is what the special brake line wrenches look like.
1. Remove the wheel from the side of the caliper being replaced.
2. Loosen the tension of the rear parking brake cables (see Adjusting the Parking Brake Drive).
3. Loosen the lower end of the brake hose.
4. Using fine-nose pliers, grasp the rear parking brake cable end…
5….and remove it from the slot of the release lever.
6. Remove the end of the parking brake cable sheath from the bracket hole on the caliper by squeezing the end clips and disconnect the cable from the caliper.
7. Remove the two bolts securing the brake shoe guide to the knuckle and detach the caliper from the knuckle.
8. Disconnect the caliper from the brake hose by unscrewing it from the hose tip, and remove the caliper assembly from the pad guide.
HELPFUL TIP: Place a container underneath to catch any remaining brake fluid from the hose and the caliper slave cylinder.
HELPFUL TIP: To prevent the hydraulic fluid from completely leaking out, immediately plug the tube opening using any available method. Air bleed valve protective caps are very good for this purpose.
9. The second wheel support is removed in the same way.
10. Install the caliper in the reverse order of removal. Apply anaerobic thread locker to the threads before installing the shoe guide bolts to the knuckle.
Tighten the brake hose tip completely before installing the caliper onto the knuckle. When installing the caliper, make sure that the hose is not twisted.
11. After installation, restore the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir and bleed air from the brake hydraulic system (see Bleeding the hydraulic brake system).
12. Adjust the parking brake drive (see Adjusting the Parking Brake Drive).
