Withdrawal



1. Disconnect ground wire from battery.

2. Remove the shift lever knob.

3. Take off (depending on hardware version) center console or shelf near the gear lever.

4. Remove the outer casing of the gear lever after removing it from the holder, as well as the inner casing with the holder after unscrewing the holder frame from the floor tunnel.

5. Unscrew the shift lever from the rear of the gearbox housing.

6. Support the clutch pedal.

7. In the engine compartment, remove the front left and right acoustic insulation.


8. Remove the upper radiator shroud.

9. Unscrew the upper starter mounting bolt and disconnect the ground wire.

10. Support the engine with a jack.

11. Remove lower engine acoustic cover under vehicle.

12. Detach the rubber-metal connector from the stringer.

13. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold by unscrewing the nuts securing it.

14. Detach the propeller shaft from the final drive gear flange, holding the studs with a Torx tool so that they do not unscrew from the final drive flange when unscrewing the shaft mounting nuts, and also disconnect the middle bearing of the propeller shaft from the body bracket.

15. Detach the propshaft ball joint from the gearbox flange and remove the propshaft.

16. Support the gearbox with wooden blocks.

17. Remove the transmission mount holder.

18. Lower the gearbox.

19. Lower the engine. Its cylinder head must not come into contact with the brake lines. If necessary, you can install a wooden block between the cylinder head and the front bulkhead.

20. Disconnect the external gearshift mechanism.

21. Disconnect the speedometer cable and wire from the reversing light switch.

22. Remove the spring latch and disconnect the clutch cable from the clutch release forks.

23. Remove the clutch housing plate located between the engine block and transmission.

24. Remove the remaining two starter mounting bolts and remove the starter.

25. Unscrew the 3 bolts securing the clutch housing to the engine block.

26. Disconnect the gearbox from the engine and remove it from below the vehicle.


Installation



1. Pull the clutch release forks back and secure with a wire in this position.

2. Coat with a thin coat of Ford Special Grease (N 5021439) input shaft splines.

3. Attach gearbox to engine block (3 bolts).

4. Insert the two starter mounting bolts into the holes.

5. Install a sheet partition between the engine block and the crankcase.

6. Tighten the bolts securing the sheet partition.

7. Then carry out the steps in reverse order with respect to the process of removing the gearbox, paying attention to:
  • observance of the necessary tightening torques for threaded connections;
  • filling the gearbox with the required amount of the appropriate oil;
  • transmission tightness test.

Attention! Before installing the rubber flexible joint of the driveshaft on the gearbox flange, check that the studs are correctly fastened to the flange. If it is found that the studs are turning, they must be unscrewed, their threads cleaned, applied to the threaded area screwed into the flange, two drops of an anti-unscrewing agent (e.g. Loctite 270), tighten these bolts after 5 minutes to 80 Nm and wait 30 minutes for the protective agent to harden.
